Team from YWAM Los Angeles

At the moment we have a team here at the Lighthouse Community Center from Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Los Angeles. 

There are 12 young people on this team from 7 different nations - Denmark, Holland, Germany, France, United States, South Korea and Norway.  They have been here since April 16 serving and blessing the children and families in the slum in various ways.

Worshiping, praying and declaring God's truth over the slum and the precious people who live here.

The LA team has been working hard cleaning, painting and restoring a home in the slum.

The team has also done a great job working with the beautiful children who live here in the slum of Cafezal. 

The LA team has also enjoyed a bit of Brazilian culture!
Riding on the city bus, seeing monkeys in the park, shopping at the city market and eating rice and beans for lunch everyday at the Lighthouse Community Center.

 

 

The LA team has also had the opportunity to share in a church, evangelize, pray for, bless and encourage many people living here in the slum.

The LA team will be here at the Lighthouse Community Center until May 2nd and then they will travel to the Amazon region of Brazil to serve there.  Please be in prayer for them!

May God continue to use this team for the glory of His name here in Brazil!

School Started at the Lighthouse!

Much is going on here at the Lighthouse Community Center at the moment!
  The Lighthouse is literally a full house daily,  full of children, teens and adults from the slum coming to participate in the various activities and programs offered here.

Also, just last week, a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) school called Foundations of Community Development (FCD School) started here at the Lighthouse.  The Lighthouse got a little bit "fuller"!

 There are now five FCD students living at the Lighthouse and participating in this awesome training course!  Meet the new additions to the Lighthouse family!

What is the Foundations in Community Development School?

The Foundations in Community Development school or (FCD school) is a three month long YWAM course that trains people to work in poor communities, based on values and principles found in the Word of God.  This school equips students with skills to help communities initiate and accomplish strategic activities that will bring life and growth towards God's purposes in His kingdom on earth.

The school is composed of classes covering the following topics:

Christian view of poverty

Practical examples of Community Development

How to help a local church participate in community development

Christian Worldview

Research and planning of new projects

The Kingdom of God

The importance of water and the environment and creative solutions

Intercession and spiritual warfare

Holistic Mission

Prayer Requests...

The students have already completed a week of classes and are enjoying their time and experience so far. Please pray for them during this special season of learning and growing in the calling has for their lives!

Also, please pray for the leaders and staff  running the FCD school, as they have just a small team of three running the school and have much to do.
